Artist Spotlight: Loving The Sun

Joe Weninghoff, originally named Joseph Wenninghoff and born on March 15, 1957, in Bevergern, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, was already notable for albums with bands like Marilyn and Zeitloop. In 2004, he started "Loving the Sun" with singer-songwriter Christina Pollmann.

The band's name, inspired by lyrics from his song "South Beach Quay," led to their debut album "Dreaming of More." With Christina, background singer/guitarist Andrea Heukamp, and Joe, albums like "Colorful" and "The Other Side of the World" were birthed at the Neamusic studio.

By 2006, Loving the Sun transitioned from their Nea Music label, initially linked with Pängg, to Sireena Records. After Pollmann's 2008 departure, the band produced albums "Behind the Rainbow," "The Path of Love," and "Spiritual Walk" with singer Alev Cetinyilmaz between 2009-2014. By 2015, hits like "Little Girl" and "Apple Tree" secured spots on US charts.

September 2015 marked the release of "Guardian Angel," featuring Insa van Schwartzenberg and distributed by Fuego/Nea Music. Notably, "Nature," its B-side, clinched impressive rankings on various charts. Other collaborations include the talents of guitarist Siggi Mertens, bassist Jörg Langanke, musician Sandro Friedrich, and Australian vocalist Marie Craven.

In 2017, the single "From the Darkness to the Light" sung and penned by Ute Kuchenbecker was introduced by Fuego/Nea Music, peaking impressively at number 16 on the DRT National Airplay Charts.
