INTERVIEW: The-o

1. How did you first become interested in music and what inspired you to become a musician?

To answer your question, I first became interested in music at a young age. My mom would play old school R&B music in the house, and I was immediately drawn to the beats and the rhymes. As I got older, I started wring my own rhymes and experiment with different styles and sounds.

2. What genre of music do you primarily focus on, and why?

Hiphop is my focus. For me, hip hop offers a powerful platform to express myself creatively and to speak truth to power. It allows me to connect with audiences on a deep and emotional level, and to share my personal experiences and struggles with the world. Hip hop also offers a wide range of opportunists for experimenting and innovating. I can draw on a vast array of different sounds and influences, from classic soul and funk to electronic music and rock. This allows me to push the boundaries of what hip hop can be and to create music that is truly unique and groundbreaking.

3. Who are some of your musical influences, and how have they impacted your style?

How much me do you have lol! At the risk of being too verbose, I will keep it short. Porshhead influenced the dark haunng sound of my music, RZA, Jay-Z ,NAS and Kanye influenced my rhyme scheme and delivery.

4. Can you describe your songwriting process, from initial idea to finished product?

Usually, I come up with an idea and then I build the music around it. Then, I just play the beat and kind of just go with the flow. If I'm feeling it, I'll lay it down and jot it down for later.

5. How do you think your music has evolved since you started making music?

Oh boy, my music has gone through some serious transforming! Back in the day, it was all Wu-Tang style, you know, that grit rawness. But now, it's taken a turn for the dark side, with more melodies and vibes that give you chills.

6. What message or emotion do you hope to convey through your music?

My goal is to make you feel like you're in my shoes when you listen to my music. It's not just about hearing it; I want you to experience it on a deeper level. To me, every song is like a mini-movie, and I want you to feel the same way.

7. How do you find inspiration for your music, and where do you draw inspiration from?

Okay, so here's the deal. When it comes to inspiring, I never know where it's gonna hit me. Some times I'll stumble across a funky lile sample that just takes me back to a specific moment or feeling, and before you know it, bam! A new song is born. It's a wild ride, but that's the beauty of it. You never know what memories and emotions will come bubbling up to the surface.

8. Can you talk about a specific song that is particularly meaningful to you?

"Let Me Go" is a track that hits close to home for me. See, it's all about my divorce and how, believe it or not, it was actually a blessing in disguise. It wasn't easy, but now that I'm on the other side, I can honestly say that I'm happier than ever before. Sometimes you goa go through the rough stuff to get to the good stuff, you know what I mean?
